Caterham is moving into cycling with a new range of carbon and steel-framed bikes that will retail under the Caterham Cycling brand.
Previewed at the recent Eurobike show in Germany, Caterham Cycling will launch its full range of eight bikes at the London Bike Show in February 2015 – promising all will be ‘beautiful breakthrough bicycles’.
Transferring Caterham’s “unrivalled composites knowledge” from its motorsport, marine and aerospace work into the cycling world, the composite bikes are created in Germany: all design, engineering, production paint and assembly is carried out there.
The firm says its frames use Sportive aero-shaped geometry and have been designed with a front-to-rear monocoque and “top-level” weight and stiffness values. It’s also designed its own unique stem and integrated seat post.
Caterham Cycles has teamed up with European component manufacturers to equip the range of “completely European” bikes.
The carbon bikes all carry Duo Cali branding:
- Duo Cali Limited Edition
- Duo Cali Record
- Duo Cali Chorus
- Duo Cali Urban EPS
Interestingly, the Limited Edition is just that – a bike carrying the highest-spec components that’s limited to just 73 units, referencing the year Caterham Cars was formed.
There’s also a Caterham Fairspear steel-framed bike that references the original Caterham Super 7.
Expect more news from Caterham Cycles in the coming weeks: right now, it’s so new it doesn’t even have its new website and supporting literature ready…
