BMW has revealed an ultra-limited edition M4 Coupe to celebrate driver Marco Wittmann’s championship victory in the DTM German touring car championship.
The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition will be limited to just 23 cars (the same as Wittmann’s race number), each finished in an exclusive specification that’s sure to be highly collectible in years to come.
All models will come in Alpine White with matt black bonnet and boot lid – and all will feature distinctive multi-colour stripes front and rear. This is complemented by another black stripe along the car’s side.
The BMW M kidney grille gets an ornate surround, and there’s also a black front splitter and side skirt blade, plus carbonfibre front flaps, mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser insert.
New 19-inch alloy wheels are standard and, to top it off, the M4 DTM Champion Edition receives a number 23 on the doors and a flag graphic alongside ‘WIT’ and ‘DTM Champion 2014’ on the rear side windows. Subtle it is not.
Wittmann loves it, though. “The car looks fantastic… the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in my colours is the icing on the cake at the end of this outstanding year.”
Well, the car and the Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 test drive that BMW has also arranged for him – yes, the DTM champion is to drive a Formula 1 car for the first time, which BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt called a reward for his efforts this season.
“As he has consistently impressed us in the three years he has been working with us within the DTM… BMW M GmbH has come up with something very special. Thanks to the relationship we enjoy with our premium partner Red Bull, it was possible for us to organise a test drive in the Toro Rosso.”
DTM champion, a car with his name on it, an F1 test… it really is a rather special end to the season for Marco Wittmann.
