Bentley has revealed the first teaser shot of its all-new SUV 4×4, due to go on sale in 2016 following a full reveal in 2015.
The new Bentley SUV will be “the most luxurious sand powerful SUV on the market,” promises the firm. This will set it apart from any other SUV – including its expected arch-rival, the Range Rover.
“It will create a completely new segment in the SUV market,” said Bentley chairman and CEO Dr Wolfgang Schreiber during the firm’s annual results meeting in London.
It will also look completely different to the controversial EXP-9F concept first shown in 2012. Dr. Schreiber confirmed to us during an interview at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 that “we have changed the exterior completely – front, side, rear, even the roof.
“The proportions are now much more Bentley-like.”
Despite all the sand, this is apparent even in the first teaser image issued above. Flick between that car and the concept and you can see how the front end is sleeker, the windscreen appears to be more raked and, generally, how the new car has more of a Continental GT-style appearance at the front.
Bentley confirmed that it plans to sell at least 3,000 SUVs a year, as part of a huge £800 million three-year new model and production development plan.
Now the first teaser is out, we can expect to start seeing more of the all-new Bentley SUV in coming months prior to its full 2015 production reveal – but we will not be seeing another concept to tease it, Dr. Schreiber told us at Geneva.
“We have all the information we need” – to ensure, adds the firm, the new Bentley SUV will be “true to the brand hallmarks of luxury, performance, quality and craftsmanship”…
