MR’s man Sean Carson is currently in Monaco driving the new Audi A3 Cabriolet and we await his verdict…
… But for now, have a muse over these prices that the company has just revealed.
They show the new A3 Cabriolet starts at £25,790 for the 140hp 1.4 TFSI SE – that’s around £2,000 more than the equivalent Golf.
The top-of-the-range S line derivative, fitted with the 180hp 1.8-litre petrol TSI, will cost you £32,420 – priced neatly between the Golf GTI cabriolet (£30,060) and the 265hp Golf R (£33,475).
OK, Volkswagen offers more power for the money but don’t underestimate the lure of the Audi badge. Customers don’t.
Next year will see a number of new engines in the A3 Cabriolet – including a company car driver friendly 1.6 TDI likely to emit less than 100g/km of CO2; and a 300hp Golf R-rivaling S3 cabriolet.
Prices for these are yet to be revealed – but we expect the S3 cabriolet will be around £35,000.
But is the A3 Cabriolet worth it? For that, you’ll have to come back soon – with the added bonus of funding out what Sean thinks about the new Audi S3 Saloon, too. Yes, he’s also driving that in Monaco.
Hardly the shortest of straws he drew there, you could say…
