Aston Martin Works is inviting all Aston Martin owners to visit its Newport Pagnell site on Chris Evans’ National Classic Car Day to help raise money for BBC Children In Need.
The move by Aston Martin is the first official endorsement by a premium car manufacturer for the BBC Radio 2 DJ’s latest auto-themed idea.
Aston Martin’s invitation is for all Aston owners to visit the Newport Pagnell Works site on the morning of Friday 4 April. It is promising refreshments and “the usual warm welcome”, and will help coordinate donations to the BBC Children In Need Charity from visitors.
Evan’s idea is for owners to pick up friends and family for a lift to work, and for the passengers to donate petrol money to the BBC charity.
There’s just one proviso, says the firm – book fast, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. That’s because parking is strictly limited and is thus being allocated to Aston Martin owners ahead of time. “If you plan to attend,” says the firm, “please ensure you reply promptly”.
Motoring Research was the first automotive outlet to reveal news of Chris Evans’ new charity car day – and we immediately committed to it by promising to all drive our own classic cars to work on Friday 4 April.
Follow our progress next week as we report live via Twitter. Hopefully we all make it in…
