Aston Martin has canned the Cygnet

Aston-Martin-Cygnet-2013

Aston Martin has confirmed our weekend report that the Cygnet is no more – and if you want one, best be quick.

The much-maligned Toyota iQ city car was introduced in 2011 but didn’t quite become the rumoured four-figure-volume sales success Aston Martin intended.

According to stat website howmanyleft.com, there are just 143 on British roads.

Aston Martin has thus taken the decision to cease production and “concentrate on (our) successful core range of sports cars”.

Production of left-hand drive cars finished in the summer, added our contact, with production of right-hand drive British models ending later in the year.

So while the Cygnet has no future in Aston Martin’s line-up, there’s still the opportunity to buy one of the runout editions.

Let us know if you join the queue (queue? -Ed).
