And, as suggested by MR yesterday, the new model sets a new M5 speed benchmark – rocketing from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds!
Just 300 BMW M5 30 jahre will be built, all finished in matt-finish BMW Individual Frozen Silver metallic. 20-inch bicolour M alloys are fitted, and the kidney grille, gills, door handles and quad exhausts are all finished in black chrome.
There is a ’30 jahre M5′ badge on the front wing.
Inside, there is 30 jahre M5 lettering for the door sills, all four seats and an individually numbered plaque on the dash.
30 jahre M5: 600hp and that’s not all…
BMW has boosted the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 to 600hp by ECU tweaks and a boost in charge pressure. Torque is up a little as well, to 516lb ft, and economy is unchanged at 28.5mpg and 231g/km CO2.
The top speed remains capped to 155mph unless the optional M Driver’s Package is chosen: this ups the limiter to 190mph.
Sensibly, BMW also fits the M5 Competition Package as standard. This lowers the chassis by 10mm and adds firmer spring and damper settings. The Active M Differential also gains its own ECU, and the M Servotronic steering has a more direct setting.
BMW is expected to launch the M5 30 jahre at the Nurburgring M Festival on June 20; UK allocation of the 300 worldwide cars has not yet been confirmed.
