2018 Aston Martin Vantage: the James Bond car you will soon be able to buy

Finally, 12 years after the drop-dead Aston Martin V8 Vantage went on sale in 2005, a replacement is on its way. And, good news for James Bond fans, these shots suggest it takes more than a little inspiration from the DB10 concept car which featured in the 2015 film Spectre.

Little has been revealed about the new Vantage ahead of its debut later this year, but these fresh photos of a camouflaged car suggest it’s much more than a mini DB11. Yes – a new Aston Martin might look different to the rest of the range.

You can flick through the pictures yourself and make your own mind up about its appearance. Although it looks very similar to the DB10 in our eyes, there’s definitely a few hints of DB11. Hidden behind the black tape above the front arches, the flanks look very DB11 to us. If you squint, there are even elements of Aston Martin Vulcan, too.

The flanks aren’t the only things the Vantage will have in common with the DB11. For a start, it’ll share a shortened version of the DB11’s platform, along with its AMG-sourced V8 engine. Power’s likely to be detuned from 510hp to around 450hp, transferred to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF auto ‘box. A V12 engine, also from the DB11, is likely to follow in the future.

Prices are yet to be confirmed, but expect a small increase on the V8 Vantage’s current £94,995 start price. That’ll make it a rival for fellow brit the Jaguar F-Type R, along with the Porsche 911. Expect more to be revealed later in 2017 – we’ll bring you further details on the new Aston Martin Vantage as and when we get it.
