30-second news: Veteran Car Run set to be 'biggest in 5 years'

Organisers say they’ve received a record number of entries for this year’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.

Open to all cars manufactured before 1905, the Veteran Car Run is a celebration of the 1896 Locomotives on Highways Act, which increased the national speed limit to 14mph and scrapped the requirement for an escort carrying a red flag in front of any motorised vehicle.

Entries for this year’s run have come from all over the UK, as well as Australia, South Africa and the USA. A total of 23 countries are represented in the entry list, which includes 34 new participants.
