2016 Mercedes-Maybach Pullman revealed

Mercedes-Maybach Pullman 2016The 2015 Geneva Motor Show will see the debut of the new 2016 Mercedes-Maybach Pullman, a lavish 6.5 metre long range-topper inspired by the world-famous 1960s Mercedes-Benz 600.

The new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman will easily be the firm’s biggest car and finally give it a genuine rival to the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Uniquely, it has ‘vis-à-vis’ rear-facing seats ahead of the lavish rear VIP armchairs, just like in a stretch limo. No car in this sector has more rear legroom and there’s even an electric partition window to separate rear passengers from the driver.

The rear is described as offering club lounge comfort and is completely lined in leather – from roof liner, to door frames, to seat consoles. Rear curtains are standard too, and that glass partition turns from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button.

Because it’s so long – more than a metre more than a regular S-Class, with a wheelbase half a metre more than a MINI’s total length – Mercedes-Maybach has had to design an electric extender for the standard 18.5-inch monitor in the rear…

Unique body design has separated the ultra-long rear doors from the front with a central panel; Mercedes-Maybach says that despite its size, the Pullman is easy to get into (aided by overall height almost 100mm up on a regular S-Class). The paint finish is bespoke too, and applied in multiple layers.

The engine is suitably upmarket: a 6.0-litre biturbo V12 producing 530hp and, more significantly, 612lb ft of pulling power from just 1,900rpm.

“Quite apart from providing stately and stylish seating for high-ranking passengers in the comfort and spaciousness for which it is famed, the new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is of course the embodiment of exclusivity at its highest level,” said Ola Källenius, Member of the Daimler AG Management Board responsible for sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“One can sense the significance and greatness of it in every detail.”

Set to wow show-goers at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman will reach customers from early 2016, at a suitably club class price: from €500,000, or nearly £375,000…
