Porsche is getting in the Christmas spirit by hosting a month-long pop-up experience in Covent Garden to help countdown to the launch of its first electric car, the Taycan. Having begun on December 1, it’ll close in the new year on January 2.
The pop-up is called Porsche Life and will feature a one-third scale model of the original Mission E concept of 2015, the car that previewed the Taycan. Visitors can download the ‘Mission E Augmented Reality’ app to bring the scale model to life, “offering a virtual experience today of the Porsche technology of tomorrow”.
The Mission E can ‘virtually’ be fully explored via the app. You can configure your own Mission E, simulate the car’s aerodynamics and have a full X-ray of the car’s under-skin technologies including the drivetrain and battery. You can even have a virtual test drive.
While not all entirely Christmasy, there is, of course, a gift shop where you can pick up Porsche trinkets for sports car-loving friends and family. If they’re out with you at the Porsche pop-up, you can create a piece of digital art with music of your choice and a Mission E image to colour in with sound. How very futuristic…
It all sounds like a bit of fun and potentially a spot of well-earned respite for weary Christmas shoppers. All while previewing what could be the most important car of 2019…
