One in three cars built by McLaren Automotive is shipped from Britain to North American, and the firm’s single largest global region has now topped a noteworthy milestone, with the delivery of its 5000th supercar.

The F1 racing-derived sports car company only began deliveries to the region in late 2011, yet has already totted up a leading sales tally thanks to sales of the MP4-12C, 650S, 675LT, P1 and, more recently, the 570S Spider (part of McLaren’s Sports Series line) and 720S (from the firm’s Super Series).
Dr. Gary Leach is the lucky recipient of the 5000th car, a Silica White 570S Spider. It’s the perfect West Coast cruiser for the lucky new California-based McLaren supercar owner.
Needless to say, he was pleased as punch. “The McLaren 570S Spider really appealed to me as an amazing combination of a car that can be comfortable and enjoyable for a daily driver, but that has the performance, gearshift and brakes that will allow me to fully enjoy it on a track day.”

McLaren North America President Tony Joseph was buoyant. “From small beginnings back in 2011, we have firmly established the McLaren range of sportscars and supercars as class leaders that appeal to a wide range of discerning enthusiasts.
“The Sports Series has become a strong seller, helping us double our sales, and the accolades bestowed on the new McLaren 720S have helped create a backlog of orders that we will fill during 2018.”
Last year, McLaren Automotive’s 22 North American retailers sold more than 1,200 cars and more growth is planned for 2018, with several new dealers set to be announced in coming months.
“We are taking steps to ensure that our presence and customer service is at the cutting edge of the luxury performance car market,” said Joseph. At this rate, it will be less than a year before we’re hearing news of the 6000th North American McLaren delivery…
